Long distance radio listening…
I met a guy today from Finland who operates a group which goes out and listens to radio stations from all over the world through a condition called “skips”. the phenomenon allows radio signals to travel great distances beacause the signals bounce off of the ionosphere and then back down to earth. A very cool guy and a certainly interesting hobby as well…. you can check out his site at dxing.com.
Today’s buy
Today I bought the Fishman Neo-D Humbucking sound hole pickup for my acoustic guitar. I bought it for a gig I have this evening. I haven’t tested it under gig conditions. But since I’m a sound engineer I was able to plug it in to the sound system at Manoa Valley Theatre and I was amazed by the sound of this pickup. each string sounded balanced and natural. THe build quality seems very good and it was quite easy to install. After I put it through it’s paces in gigs I’ll write another report about this guitar pickup
Frost/Nixon Opens at MVT
Last night was opening night for Frost/Nixon at Manoa Valley Theatre. It went off with a big bang! The audience was great, the cast was great, all in all a cool show. If you get the chance to see it, go!
Frost/Nixon, the Tony Award-winning play by Peter Morgan, is the fast-paced and thrilling retelling of the monumental post-Watergate television interviews in which David Frost, a famous British talk-show host with a playboy reputation, brought a defiant Richard Nixon down to earth and elicited the apology the rest of the world was waiting to hear. I found this great site called Twitter Grader. The Twitter grader measures the relative power of a Twitter. I’m not sure what the criteria is but to my surprise I checked out the site to see what my grade is and it was 77. So I’m thinking “well that’s pretty cool”. THen I click on a link that says it’ll take me to the “Twitter Elite in Honolulu”. So I clicked on the link and to my surprise, because I have to twitter accounts…I’m number one and two! Holy Schnikies!
So I took a screen shot of it to prove it cause I figure no one will believe me…. click on the image for a bigger version…
