Life 2.0 and other nonsense
Life’s good at the moment. No major pains in the a@# to worry about. Over the weekend I had a great time on a photo shoot. The model was wonderful and if you think I’m falling for her don’t I get this way after every shoot. I just love taking pictures and being in that head space is quite fun. I’ve been spending all my free time editing the photos from the shoot which came out quite well. I’m very happy with the results.
There’s just two more shows for “Bye Bye Birdie”. Playing in the pit has been a tremendous experience. It’s been diffucult but rewarding at the same time. If it was easy it wouldn’t have been as much fun. It’s an experience I’m sure I won’t forget.
I’m also working on a book of photography. It represents the shots I’ve taken over the past six months. Which encompasses somewhere in the ballpark of 2 thousand images. I’ve picked the photo’s that will be in the book. All that’s left is the layout, shouldn’t be too hard…I think. I hope to have the book finished in a month or so. I just hope that people enjoy the book as much as I have enjoyed putting it together.
That’s my life at the moment…
Fo-Shizzle!
Playing Bass!
After playing bass for two years I decided it was time to start learning to play fretless. I picked up a cool upright electric bass. Everyone knows I play six string bass so the upright being only 4 string is making me play differently because it’s got less strings. It’s also been interesting to hear how my bass playing is improving and my ear is getting better as well. Overall I think it was an excellent choice to take the plunge and try something new. We should al do some thing like that every once in a while…
Updating the site
I am in the process of updating the site here. I’m still not sure about the new look for the blog but I will be adding other stuff. I’m thinking about adding a section about my sound design work as well as a section for music and of course photography. Although I think I need to hire a photographer to help me get pictures of myself on the site. We’ll see about that one…
Van Fixed!
My boss at work recomended a great mechanic to me and he was able to fix it and quickly. So for what it’s worth… Thanks Paul!
Van problems…again!
Yesterday after a rehearsal for “Bye Bye Birdie”. My van died on the freeway. It was weird. The engine just shutdown. I was on my way to a recording session. So naturally I called my boss to cover me at the session and then as I was dialing to call a tow truck my cell phone died. Arrggghh! So I just sat and contemplated walking down the freeway to get to a phone and then the cops showed up. No they didn’t arrest me. although with the day I was already having it might not have been such a surprise. They called a tow truck for me which was very cool. For once in my life the cops actually did something good.
What happened was that the fuel pump went out. So the engine stopped getting gas. That’s all it was. Unfortunately the fuel pump is in the gas tank so in order to replace it, they have to remove the gas tank. I was worried that the engine died and it would cost more money than I owe to get it fixed.
I hoping that my life gets better soon. It seems like I’ve had a string of bad times lately and I just really need something good.

Update on my life…
Well I’ve been super busy which is my norm. I try to keep myself busy so that I don’t get lazy. But of course it has it negatives as well.
Right now I’m working on the sound cues for a show at MVT called “And Then THere Were None”. A muder mystery based on an Agatha Christie novel. Of course the sound plays an integral role setting place and time and is taking up a good chun k of my time right now.
I’m also working on learning the bass parts for “Bye Bye Birdie” being produced by Army Community Theatre. It’s always been a dream of mine to play in the pit. When my friend Keith asked me if I would do it I couldn’t say no. It’s not that he mademe a great offer or anything like that. It was just the chance to play in the pit for a show that I’ve already done sound for once before. The bass part is fairly straight forward except for a few numbers then it gets really difficult… well for me it is and it’s been a neat challenge working on it and getting it. I’m hoping that it will take my playing to another level.
And then there’s my photography. I haven’t done a shoot in a bout a month or so because of my schedule. I’d like to do another shoot sometime around May 10th but I’ll have to find the time to put out a casting call. So the next shoot I have scheduled is for May 26th with a model who’s coming to Hawaii from Washington state. It should be a lot of fun and I’m really looking forward to it. if you’d like to check out what I’ve done viit my other site, jasontagphoto.com. I warn you that the site is not work friendly so check it out at your own risk.
That’s all for now. more later.
