So after a few days using Google voice, I have to say that I find it interesting and extremely useful!.  If you haven’t yet heard about Google Voice visit their site here.

At first glance it seems interesting because you can have one phone number ring all of your phones.  That is if you’re like me and have a home phone plus a cell phone plus a work phone… trying to give these numbers to all of my friends and keeping track of who has which numbers is just ridiculously hard to manage.  With Google Voice I can give out one number and I get to decide who can reach on which of my other phone numbers and even when they can reach me directly and when they just get routed to voicemail.  If I only want my friends to reach me on the weekends then I can set that up or even sending all cals to my work phone when I know I’ll be at my desk.

So as you can see this new offering from Google seems quite useful.  However one of My favorite features is transcripts of voicemails!  I can read my voicemail or listen to them if I choose.  I can even download them.  this seems perfect if you just want to setup a voicemail box say if you’re a podcaster or in radio and want to be able to play recorded messages on your show!

Above is a screencap of one of my voicemails from a telemarketer… yes I was stoked even to get a call from a telemarketer.  It appears that the number was in someone’s database.  It happens.  But the good news is that you can block numbers like this one easily.  My point for sharing that above image is to show you that the voice to text is still not perfect but still quite useful if you just want to scan messages quickly.  THe grey text is where the software wasn’t sure if it got the word right or not.  I could so have some reall fun with this!  and I’m tempted to give out my phone number to everyone and ask for strange and creative messages… but I think i’m gonna think about that one for a bit…

Anyway… this isn’t a full review of the Google Voice service but I thought I just give a heads up on my experience of using it… Peace!

Life’s good at the moment. No major pains in the a@# to worry about. Over the weekend I had a great time on a photo shoot. The model was wonderful and if you think I’m falling for her don’t I get this way after every shoot. I just love taking pictures and being in that head space is quite fun. I’ve been spending all my free time editing the photos from the shoot which came out quite well. I’m very happy with the results.

There’s just two more shows for “Bye Bye Birdie”.  Playing in the pit has been a tremendous experience.  It’s been diffucult but rewarding at the same time.  If it was easy it wouldn’t have been as much fun.  It’s an experience I’m sure I won’t forget.

I’m also working on a book of photography.  It represents the shots I’ve taken over the past six months.   Which encompasses somewhere in the ballpark of 2 thousand images. I’ve picked the photo’s that will be in the book.  All that’s left is the layout,  shouldn’t be too hard…I think.  I hope to have the book finished in a month or so.  I just hope that people enjoy the book as much as I have enjoyed putting it together.

Fo-Shizzle!

Yesterday after a rehearsal for “Bye Bye Birdie”.  My van died on the freeway.  It was weird.  The engine just shutdown.   I was on my way to a recording session.  So naturally I called my boss to cover me at the session and then as I was dialing to call a tow truck my cell phone died.  Arrggghh!  So I just sat and contemplated walking down the freeway to get to a phone and then the cops showed up.  No they didn’t arrest me.  although with the day I was already having it might not have been such a surprise.  They called a tow truck for me which was very cool.  For once in my life the cops actually did something good.

What happened was that the fuel pump went out.  So the engine stopped getting gas.  That’s all it was.  Unfortunately the fuel pump is in the gas tank so in order to replace it, they have to remove the gas tank.  I was worried that the engine died and it would cost more money than I owe to get it fixed.

I hoping that my life gets better soon.  It seems like I’ve had a string of bad times lately and I just really need something good.

Well since getting my iPod Touch I’ve been having lots of fun.  First I used Jailbreak and then added a program called VNSea.  this is cool cause it allows me to remotely control my laptop from the touch.  Pretty cool stuff.  Well I’m off to play some more…

I saw this pic and just about died!

I went in for my MRI today so that the docs could look and see what kind of vertigo I have…or had, since now I feel totally fine.  The MRI tech was very cool and even gave me a copy of the pictures.  So here is one of those pics for you’re  enjoyment.

Is vertigous even a word?  whatever.  so as if anyone really cares but I’m almost through this whole vertigo thing.  I drove today for the first time in 2 weeks and it was everything I hoped it would be!

Yay Me!

That’s right. I’m suffering from the symptons of vertigo. Different? Yes. Exciting? Not really. It kinda sucks actually. The world seems to be listing to port. I’m just stoked that I can now get some mileage out of those damn sailing terms I had to learn when I was a kid…. Anyway, I digress.

Let me asuure you that it does in fact suck! I can’t drive or ride my motorcycle. Pretty much all I can do is stay at home all day, watch a little Mork & Mindy on Channel 57, kick back with a cool Coors 16 ouncer… wait, Actually that’s kinda cool!

Long live WikiPedia!

I will admit that I am a big fan of the Soccergirl podcast.  Last night I watched a couple of vidcasts that she did.. or are they vodcasts.  Anyway, I watched a few and I felt a sudden twinge of sadness that I didn’t continue to podcast.  I felt as if I had been a part of something revolutionary and then got left behind.  So I’ve decided to resume my podcasting venture now that I have time again to do so.  I’m not sure what form the podcast will take.  I don’t even know if it will be video or audio but I’m determined to do it and make it my own.

Maybe I should document life in a psuedo journal/diary style.  Maybe I should get a video camera and bring it with me everywhere I go.  I don’t know what shape this would take but the more I think about it the more I miss it and the more I feel I need to be doing it.  Not because you can get rich and famous from it but because it was fun to do.  Okay, I’m joking about the rich and famous part.

I think I should call “Tag Nation”!  and I should just do whatever I want even if that means that I sit in front of a camera and make funny faces for 20 minutes.  I’m certainly not a news journalist or even a reporter by any stretch of the imagination.  I just remembered another Idea that I had…

The idea was to do an animated video podcast.  It could be interesting in a south park meets mystery science theatre 3k kinda way.

I guess we’ll shall see what happens…
